Y’all remember the monstrous Cabbage Patch Kids? I think that’s how they originated. I remember seeing a tourist trap shop (early ’80s) selling “Pickled People.” This same idea, soft sculptures stufffed into jars. Just a few years later the CPKs hit the shelves — I figured they had to be connected, they was all just too fffin ugly in the same gut-turning way. At least these guys are still kinda cute.

This was part of a series of works done by the Canadain Artist IAIN BAXTER&. He has actually won a Governor Generals award in Visual Arts. He showed at the Gallery I work at about a year ago — he is a strange and interesting man, who does things mainly to see if he can get away with it.
