Vader isn’t WTF! Costumes aren’t WTF no matter how they are juxtaposed.
A costume CAN be WTF, see “Big Bad Wolf Loves A Tranny Fight”.
Forgot to put this in my original reply:
As for the Vader part, I agree. I think this is more WIN than WTF.
The randomness of that situation was WTF, not the costumes.
Randomness of the situation? He was at a freakin con’. What do you expect?
Now if there were people in the background in tuxedos and police uniforms, then it would be totally WTF. As it is, it’s just total win.
This isn’t a “WTF” this is an awesome show of a handicapped person helped to have an amazing halloween costume. For shame, Picture is Unrelated.
Agree. This is a total WIN. That guy is awesome. What a great idea for a costume.
This is absolutely more WIN than WTF.
Two thumbs up to the guy for figuring a cool way to have a costume in a wheelchair.
I think it is really an optimistic picture, that a handicapped person has fun at sci-fi cons like everyone else. great Vader and a great idea with the wheelchair!
In that mythology, Vader overcame his handicaps with cybernetic technology (and evil.) This is just kind of… well, not a “win” by any means.
What would you do, if it were Halloween, and you’d want to be Darth Vader? I think the TIE fighter deco for his wheelchair is a really cool idea. He’d get a ton of candy from me.
I meant to say: “What would you do, if yeu were handicapped, it were Halloween, and you’d want to be Darth Vader?”
WTF, Vader never operated a TIE figher, his was the TIE Advanced x1.
This is an epic win
This photo is a total WIN.
It reminds me of a boy I saw at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom a few years ago. He was in a wheel chair, dressed as a pirate, and his mom had made a cardboard pirate ship to encase the wheel chair. It was really cool! The kid was very pale, and it was obvious that he was ill. I was also dressed as a pirate that year, and told him his costume was WAY more cool than mine because he had a ship and I didn’t. The look on his face was priceless — pure joy. I later discovered that he WAS very ill, and that all the positive comments he received that night made him feel like a “normal” kid for the first time in a long time.
So, I agree with all the WIN comments. This costume photo is not “unrelated” — if you look at the lamp posts, you’ll see he is at Disneyland attending a Halloween party. Can I give extra *WIN* points for creativity? Oh, hell. I’ll just do it anyway.
UBER EPIC WIN.
Next picture: Captain Kirk with crutches…also made to look like an Aluminum Falcon.
What the hell is an ‘Aluminum Falcon’?
Let’s just hope he didn’t get his TIE caught in the spokes.
No.
Although it brought Darth Vader ultimate power, the Dark Side can have great negative side affects as well.
Just say no to the Dark Side…
Proof that Luke never actually killed his father, the Saga continues.
Dammit! Now even aliens from outter space can come and get the good parking spots???
That’s f*cking awesome!
This guy is awesome. Kudos for a guy taking a situation in his life and doing something positive out of it.
this is the if they could not fix his legs senario
Not only that, it looks like he’s solar powered.
If you look at the picture closely, you’ll realize his lightsaber is actually a cane. +5 awesome points
not a wtf this is f’ing awesome
This guy totally wins!!
This dude is my fucking Hero!
Also, Rev and John E. are Douch bag asshats. I hope Darth Vader Force Chokes them.
F you Darth Putz. Just because I don’t join the politcally correct chorus you pull out the most overused derisive of the decade. “Not a win” isn’t a “fail.” It’s just not a win. In a way it’s kind of demeaning. Darth Vader raking leaves is a loser nerd, but Darth Wheelchair is a hero because he doesn’t let his handicap get in the way of his nerdiness? The message is “don’t worry-whatever you do, we’ll praise you for it-like a child who gets most of it in the toilet-because standards for you are lower.”
if darth yard work had a thematic rake he’d be a win too
Oooh, baby, I’ll get the waaaahmbulance for you. It’s special, the driver’s dressed like Darth Vader! You’ll love it! <3
i think the goal of this site is to find amusement in novelty. the picture is awesome and the guy is clever but that doesn’t mean it isn’t funny. laughter isn’t always a critique.
HANDICAPABLE!!!!!!
Thumbs up for this one.
Even my grandpa enjoyed this picture!
(and he’s a Wookie)
And the prize for coolest Halloween costume ever integrated into a wheelchair goes to…
I love this photo, but am slightly disturbed by some of the well-meaning comments on here. The assumption seems to be that the disabled person didn’t design or make the costume and wheelchair modifications themselves. That’s really patronising. I am a disabled person who is the process of designing and making a modified wheelchair for a parade – and NO-ONE will be helping me. So let’s pack in this ‘Aw bless, someone made a costume for da widdle disabled person so he can play too’. *VOMIT*
Make it a sexy costume please, Francesca!
Thats cool I hope he or she is having fun.
A fellow took my photograph it cost one and three.
I said when it was done, “Is that supposed to be me?”
“You’ve properly mucked it up the only thing I can see is
My little stick of Blackpool Rock.”
Completely awesome…I agree..total WIN.
He was tired of dressing up as Professor Xavier for every SF Con.
Well done costume!
