This looks like it’s from Lucerne’s Fasnacht fesival. It’s the Swiss version of Mardi Gras. Because it’s a tad colder in Switzerland than in Brazil, the fesival is about putting costumes on instead of throwing your clothes off.
It’s a huge party all over the city. Take a look at some of my videos from the 2009 Fasnacht.

Almost. It’s the Basle version, the original fasnacht (sorry, local patriotism^^)
and yes, they are all playing piccolo, if you look closely you see which songs on the sleeve. The drummers are more in the back

aporio is right that the picture was taken in basel, but he’s definitely not right about the original (in the sense of best swiss) fasnacht. that’s in lucerne, sorry dude!

Of course is Aporio right – in fact it was to guys from basle that moved to lucerne and wanted to bring some of the “home flavour” with them. So they started out with their own fasnacht in lucerne. Mainly with “Guggemusik” as you might know. Check the history books…
