I actually know what this is. There is a website called 419eater.com or somthing like that. All the guys on it make it their mission to get the guys who send spam mail to do stupid things for them in the belief they are going to get money. You know the “we have 5 million in an African account” type emails

Oh yeah I got one of those things before. They were some admiration emails from some “orphaned daughter of a wealthy African company founder” and told me to go to some bank with an account number and call some number to have like 20 billion dollars transfered to my account because someone was trying to find her fathers money. Talk about WTFs.

As an aside: it’s not about skin color. They simply fish for scam mails and respond. It is simply fact that a lot of it happens to originate in African countries, but there’s a lot in Russia and other countries as well.
